2 Timothy 2:24-26 “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach; patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
Brother Jamie Doss was raised in a Christian home, went to a Christian school, and even attended Pensacola Christian College. After one year in college, and being under conviction for some time, Brother Doss was saved at the age 18 at a Christian camp in Georgia. That same evening, Brother Doss was called to preach.
For 14 years, Brother Doss served as a missionary with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry. He preached in both adult and youth prisons alike spreading the Gospel message to the incarcerated
Married to his best friend, Julie Ann Arthur, God blessed them with 3 precious daughters: Hannah, Sarah, and Savannah. Ms Julie went home to be with the Lord in the summer of 2020 after contracting a virus while recovering from surgery. .
After his wife’s death, Brother Doss began to pray about where God would have him serve. It was through a car accident involving his daughter, Savannah, who was not seriously hurt, that he realized what ministry God was calling him into. The day after the accident, Brother Doss had a deep conversation with a pastor friend and found they both were burdened for those bound with additions and in need of a Saviour. This initiated the ministry now known as True Light Rescue Mission.
Brother Doss is now attending the Shining Light Baptist Church in
Germanton, North Carolina, pastored by Randy Cook. The church is burdened for a residential facility where men battling addiction can receive food, shelter, clothing, and be introduced to Jesus.
Shining Light Baptist Church purchased a facility for the new ministry in 2021 that is now being renovated and inspected so that operations can begin. Their hope is that 5 men at a time will be able to live in the home while the Word of God is taught and preached. The ministry will incorporate the church’s SLAP program. (Shining Light Addictions Program)
Future goals include a separate facility for women and children dealing with addictions as well as an annual conference where pastors can visit the facility and be ministered to.
Our Prayer Needs Include:
- Renovations for our new residential facility.
- To raise support for the True Light Rescue Mission.
- To see new laborers come alongside us at the True Light Rescue Mission.
- Our church’s burden to continue and expand for addicts.
- For the grandparents who are raising their grandchildren due to addiction.
For addicts to see their need for salvation.
